KPV is the C-terminal tripeptide of alpha-MSH, just lysine, proline and valine, and its research interest comes from a clean separation: it retains the anti-inflammatory activity associated with the parent hormone while lacking the melanocortin receptor binding that drives pigmentation. That makes it a useful tool for isolating one property of alpha-MSH from the rest, which is difficult to do with the full-length peptide or with melanotan II.
Being only three residues, it is unusually stable and easy to handle compared with the longer peptides here. Supplied lyophilised per vial.
Store sealed at -20 C, reconstitute with bacteriostatic water, keep the working solution refrigerated. Related compounds in stock: LL-37, ARA-290, thymosin alpha-1.
