Semaglutide is a long-acting GLP-1 receptor agonist built on a 31-amino-acid backbone. A C18 fatty-acid chain at position 26 drives albumin binding, and an Aib substitution at position 8 blocks DPP-4 cleavage, which together give the molecule a circulating half-life measured in days rather than minutes.
That stability is the reason it appears so often in incretin research: a single administration holds receptor occupancy long enough to study sustained signalling rather than a short pulse. Supplied as a lyophilised powder per vial, sealed under vacuum.
Store the sealed vial at -20 C, reconstitute with bacteriostatic water, and keep the reconstituted solution refrigerated and out of direct light. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, which are the most common cause of measurable potency loss.
Researchers comparing incretin classes usually run it against tirzepatide and retatrutide. Purity data for the compounds we stock is published on our lab reports page.
