HMG

HMG is human menopausal gonadotropin, containing both FSH and LH activity, which is what separates it from HCG: HCG acts on the LH receptor alone, while HMG supplies both arms of gonadotropin signalling. Study designs that need to distinguish FSH-driven from LH-driven effects therefore run the two in parallel rather than treating them as interchangeable.

Like HCG it is a glycoprotein preparation and structurally more delicate than the synthetic peptides here. Supplied lyophilised per vial.

Store sealed and cold, reconstitute gently with bacteriostatic water added down the vial wall, do not vortex, and keep the solution refrigerated and dark. Related: HCG, kisspeptin-10.
