Kisspeptin-10 is the shortest active fragment of kisspeptin and acts on the KISS1R receptor, sitting upstream of the entire reproductive endocrine cascade. That upstream position is what makes it a distinct research tool: rather than supplying a gonadotropin as HCG and HMG do, it triggers the hypothalamic signal that drives GnRH release, so the downstream response comes from the system's own regulation.
