5-Amino-1MQ is a small-molecule NNMT inhibitor, not a peptide, and it is studied for a specific reason: nicotinamide N-methyltransferase consumes both nicotinamide and the methyl donor SAM, so inhibiting it is investigated as a route to raising cellular NAD+ availability indirectly rather than by supplying NAD+ itself. Comparing the two approaches in parallel is the most common study design.
As a small molecule it is cell-permeable, which is why it appears in protocols where peptides cannot reach the target. Supplied as a lyophilised powder per vial.
Check solvent compatibility before reconstituting, since it does not behave like the peptides here. Store sealed at -20 C, keep prepared solutions cold and dark.
